Invoice a customer and get paid
Turn a delivered order into an invoice, then chase and settle it.
Before you start
- A completed order or agreed sale
- The customer's details and terms
Steps
Raise the invoice
Go to Finance › Invoices and choose New Invoice, or raise one directly from a completed order so the lines and prices carry over rather than being retyped.
Set the terms
Confirm the invoice date and due date. The due date is what drives every reminder and every ageing report afterwards, so a guessed date costs you later.
Send it
Send the invoice to the customer. It stays linked to the order, so anyone answering a query can see what was actually delivered.
Watch what is owed
Finance › Money In shows everything outstanding, grouped by how overdue it is. This view is the one to check weekly — it is the difference between knowing you are owed money and knowing who owes it.
Record the payment
When payment arrives, record it against the invoice. Partial payments are fine; the balance stays visible until it clears.
What you end up with
An invoice the customer has, a balance you can see, and a payment history that answers "have they paid us?" without a phone call.
