Close the month and know your numbers
Check that the books reflect reality, then read what they are telling you.
Before you start
- A month of recorded transactions
- Bank statements to check against
Steps
Catch what is missing
Review Finance › Expenses for the month and add anything paid outside the system — cash for fuel, a bank fee, a supplier settled personally. These are the entries that quietly overstate profit when they are left out.
Reconcile cash and bank
Compare Finance › Payments against your statements. Chase any difference now, while you can still remember the week it happened.
Check stock against the shelf
Count at least your highest-value items and post any correction as a stock adjustment. Stock value flows into cost of goods sold, so an uncounted discrepancy becomes a wrong profit figure.
Read the result
Open Finance › Reports for the month. Revenue, cost of goods sold, expenses, and what is left. Then Finance › COGS to see which products actually earned it — the answer is often not the ones that sold most.
Set up what you watch daily
Pin the figures that matter to your Dashboard so next month you are watching them as they happen rather than discovering them at the end.
What you end up with
Books you trust, a profit figure you can defend, and a dashboard that tells you next month's story while you can still change it.
